High Impact Assignments (HIA) are considered signature requirements for a course and are usually completed throughout the semester as knowledge is developed and reflected upon. According to the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AACU, 2017) high impact assignments include “a knowledge of the human culture and natural world, intellectual and practical skills, personal and social responsibility, integrated and applied learning, and demonstrated application of knowledge, skills, and responsibilities, to complex problems.” (p.7)
